The s4docs.hosting.vt.edu site was made with Hugo, the docsy/google theme and Web Hosting’s S4 service.

What is S4?

S4 (Simple Static Site Service) is Web Hosting’s new static site service. A static site is a site that is comprised of html, javascript, and css files.

Who is S4 for?

S4 is for anyone who has a static site, wants to create a static site or wants to use a static site generator such as Hugo, MKDocs, MDBook, Jekyll, or Sphinx.

Why Use S4? (aka Benefits of S4)

• Ability to keep/use a VT domain name.
• Simple setup, just push your files to the git repo.
• Git Version Control: By using a git repo, one can use version control and also see when/who has modified site files.
• Static Site Generators: S4 will allow one to use a static site generator such as Hugo or Jekyll or MkDocs.
