What and Where is Front Matter?

Front matter is at the top of every content page you create for your site and defines the layout, the menu, whether or not the page is a production/draft, the date created, and more.

Front Matter Tags Example

title: "A Second Blog Post"
date: 2019-10-29T17:35:04-04:00
tags: ['books','einstein']
menu:
  mainmenu:
    parent: "Blog"
type: "blog"
layout: "single"

The above example is from the sample site second-blog-post.

One can add tags to a page by putting them into the front matter as a list.

The above example has the tags “books and einstein” as tags for that particular blog post.
